Dr. Ben Carson is a neurosurgeon and respected recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest U.S. civilian honor. He also served as the 17th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Despite his significant accomplishments, Carson candidly acknowledges his troubled youth, marked by an uncontrollable temper leading him to engage in violent behaviors such as throwing rocks, wielding baseball bats and hammers, and even attempting to stab a friend. However, this incident served as a turning point, when the knife blade broke off on this friends belt buckle, preventing a potential tragedy. This last event sparked a significant transformation in Carson, prompting him to begin reading the Bible and learning how to better manage his temper. He attributes this change as part of his relationship with God and Jesus: "The most important thing for me is having a relationship with God. To know that the owner, the creator of the universe loves you, sent His Son to die for your sins."
