Christian Anfinsen (PhD, Nobel)

Back to all People
Dr. Christian B. Anfinsen, an American Biochemist, was a co-recipient of the 1972 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on the Anfinsen's dogma. This is where the native biological protein structure is determined exclusively by the protein's amino acid sequence. Dr. Anfinsen is a Christian with strong opinions on the existence of God as he once expressed: "I think only an idiot can be an atheist. We must admit that there exists an incomprehensible power or force with limitless foresight and knowledge that started the whole universe going in the first place."
