Douglas MacArthur, a distinguished General In the U.S. Army, received the Medal of Honor for his exceptional service in the Pacific during WW II. Born into a military family, he was the son of Arthur MacArthur Jr., himself a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his service in the Union Army during the American Civil War. In the aftermath of WW II, under Douglas MacArthur's guidance, Japan underwent substantial reconstruction, transforming the nation into a leading industrial powerhouse. Despite being often perceived as vain, arrogant and over confident, MacArthur was profoundly humbled by his Creator. He once said: "Believe me, sir, never a night goes by, be I ever so tired, but I read the Word of God before I go to bed." . . . " It is my hope that my son, when I am gone, will remember me not from the battle field but in the home repeating with him our simple daily prayer, Our Father Who Art in Heaven."
