Dr. Phil (McGraw)

Phillip Calvin McGraw, known as Dr. Phil, holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and is a TV personality and author. He is best known for the Dr. Phil show, offering advice to his audience on various topics He grew up in Oklahoma while his father worked in the oil fields of North Texas, delivering newspapers at 4AM and staffing an A&W Root Beer stand. McGraw moved to Kansas with his father to support his dad's lifelong dream of becoming a psychologist. In high school young Phil played linebacker, later earning a football scholarship to the University of Tulsa where he obtained a B.A. degree before his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from North Texas State University. Dr. Phil initially practiced psychology with his father who had established his own private practice. Later, Dr. Phil after consulting with Oprah Winfrey, would begin hosting his own Dr. Phil show. Young Phil was raised Baptist and made his Christian Decision early in life: "That's when I met the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I remember it like it was yesterday because that was a big step for me at 13 years old ." ..."It was a serious decision for me because I was very analytical. That was a big step of faith for me. I didn't do it just because that's what you do at that age. I had to really think this through. I spent a lot of time with the minister and youth pastor." McGraw would eventually read and analyze the entire Bible and commented: "It's a journey. You don't ever get there." Except, just possibly... Heaven will be the end of the journey?
