Gary Alan Sinise, an actor, director and producer, has won numerous awards including a Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, Tony and four Screen Actors Guild awards. Sinise was also awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal by President George W. Bush for his work supporting the U.S. military and humanitarian efforts. He was born in Illinois to Italian descent and is the son of a film editor. Gary graduated from Highland Park High School and attended Illinois State University. He and two friends created the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, where he honed his acting and directing skills. Sinise also collaborated with actor Tom Hanks on the movies Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, and The Green Mile also acting in numerous TV series. Gary Sinise is married and has 3 children, one of whom recently died at age 34 from a rare cancer of the spine. In 2000, Gary's wife became Catholic, after which he says his perception of Catholicism began to change radically and he then secretly began a Christian training program (RCIA). On Christmas eve 2010, the actor was ready to spring a life-changing surprise on his family, announcing he was now a confirmed Catholic. Yet still, Gary's faith was to tested upon his son's death on January 5, 2024: "Rather than allowing myself to be consumed by sorrow, I redoubled my efforts to serve others, using my platform to raise awareness and support for causes close to my heart." Thru his work, Gary Sinise apparently has found his role in the Christian Story.
