George Edward Foreman, a former American professional boxer, is a two-time World Heavyweight Champion and Olympic gold medalist. Born in Marshall Texas, George spent his formative years in Houston with his six siblings. He acknowledges a troubled youth, having dropped out of high school at 15. Encouraged by his mother, he joined the Job Corps, training as a carpenter and bricklayer and earned his GED, an equivalent of a High School Diploma. After moving to Pleasanton, California, he gave up football to focus on boxing. eventually winning a Gold Medal in the Mexico Olympics in 1968. He would eventually fight the greats such as Joe Frazier, Ken Norton and Muhammad Ali. After losing to Jimmy Young in 1977, he had an religious experience that changed his life. "When I found Jesus Christ, I learned to be a better athlete. I didn't have to go out there and knock them out in the first round... you can be a great athlete, a great boxer, and love your brother." For over three decades, George Foreman has served as a Pastor in Houston, Texas where he continues his fighting career, but now under new management... Jesus Christ.
