Johann Sebastian Bach, a renowned composer of the late Baroque period, is celebrated for his orchestral and keyboard masterpieces, including the Brandenburg Concertos and Toccata and Fugue in D minor. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of western music having composed over 1,000 works. In 1703, Bach assumed the position as organist for St. Boniface's Church in Arnstadt, Germany. He later married, having seven children. Bach considered his work as both a tribute to his Creator and a source of pleasure for his audience, once remarking: "Music is an agreeable harmony for the honor of God and the permissible delights of the soul."
