John D. Rockefeller

Back to all People
John D. Rockefeller emerged as one of the wealthiest individuals in American history, primarily amassing his fortune through the burgeoning energy sector. He founded the Standard Oil Company in 1870. Born into a family of eight, Rockefeller's father initially worked as a lumberjack and later transitioned to sales becoming a con artist peddling questionable "elixirs". His mother, though, was a devout Baptist. John D. became a bookkeeper at 16 and over time learned how to operate a business. And as they say, the rest is history. He is noted for his Christian faith as confirmed with following quote; "the best things he had done in life were to make Jesus his Savior and to make Laura Spelman his wife" and also "After it is all over, the religion of man is his most important possession". He prayed daily, giving 10% of his earnings to charities whether he was earning $1.50 per week or $millions. Will we find billionaires like John D. Rockefeller in heaven?
