John Grisham, an American novelist, lawyer and former member of the Mississippi House of representatives, is known for authoring legal thrillers. He has written 37 consecutive number one fiction best sellers, selling 300 million copies worldwide. Nine of his novels, such as "The Firm" and "A Time to Kill", have been adapted into film. Despite his parents lack of formal education, he was encouraged by his mother to prepare for college. John ultimately earned a J. D. degree from University of Mississippi School of Law, setting him on the path to pursue civil litigation and politics. In 3rd grade, Grisham had profound conversation with his mother about religion. He noted: "We talked, and she led me to Jesus. The following Sunday I made a public confirmation of my faith. In one sense, it was not terribly eventful for an eight-year-old, but it was the most important event in my life." Like J. K Rawlings, Grisham's Christian faith is often woven into his novels when he said: "I'm a Christian, and those beliefs occasionally come out in the books."
