Dr. Molina, an accomplished chemist, played a pivotal role in the discovery of the Antarctic ozone layer and is the co-recipient of the 1995 Nobel prize in Chemistry. During his career, he held prominent research and teaching roles at the University of California, Caltech, and MIT. Mario, born and raised in Mexico, developed a early interest in chemistry, converting a family bathroom into his personal "laboratory". He obtained his PhD from U.C. California at Berkeley in Chemistry 1968. In addition to his Nobel Prize, he is the recipient of U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom. He also served on the United States President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology and is recognized with 29 honorary degrees. Mario José Molina-Pasquel Henríquez is Catholic and was nominated to the Pontifical Academy of Sciences (Vatican, Rome). He died in 2020 at the age of 77 when his career ended...here on this earth.
