Back to all People
Martin Scorsese is a renowned film director, celebrated for his contributions to cinema that have earned him an Academy Award, three Primetime Emmy Awards and a Grammy Award. Some of his more popular films are Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, The Aviator and the Wolf of Wall Street. After graduating from high school in the Bronx, at 15 he attended a preparatory seminary intending to become a priest, but dropped out after two semesters. He later received a BA in English from NYU's College of Arts and Science. And the rest is history. Christian themes are often the hallmark of Martin's cinematic artwork, and also his life as reflecting in his comment: "Where do I go to find the meaning of existence and the meaning of life? For me, it's Christianity. That's the real saving grace of our world, of our species really."
