Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey, an American actor, won the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his role in the "Dallas Buyers Club." Growing up in Texas, his mother (teacher) and father (oil business) had a tumultuous relationship, marrying and divorcing each other multiple times. McConaughey was the youngest of 3 brothers. He graduated from the University of Austin with a B.S. degree in Radio-Television-Film. Matthew initially worked in television commercials but transitioned to the big screen quickly becoming recognized for his roles in a series of romantic comedies including "The Wedding Planner" and "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days." After a two-year hiatus from film acting, McConaughey began to appear in more dramatic roles, beginning with the legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer. McConaughey is now married with 3 children residing in Austin Texas. As a Christian, he often speaks publicly about his faith and attends a non-denominational church for which he said: "I go to church once a week. I go, I pray and I do inventory. I take a deep breath, understand myself as me being number two in God's house, and go back through my week."
