Back to all People
Dr. Max Planck, a German theoretical physicist, is recognized for pioneering quantum theory which fundamentally transformed our understanding of atomic particles. His prominence in the field is acknowledged through science by the designation of "Planck's constant" used in quantum mechanics. As a young man, Planck demonstrated a gift for music, playing the piano and composing songs and operas. Despite his success in music, he elected to pursue a career in physics, even though a physics professor warned him, "In this field, almost everything is already discovered". Dr. Planck noted the difference in perspective between a preacher and a scientist when he said: "Nothing prevents us, and the momentum of our knowledge requires it"¦ to interrelate the order of the universe and the God of religion. For the believer, God stands at the beginning of their speeches; for the physicist, at the end of them." Can science lead us to God?

Both religion and science require a belief in God. For believers, God is in the beginning, and for physicists He is at the end of all considerations.
