Michelangelo was a renowned artist, sculptor, architect and poet of the 16th century who was considered a rival to his elder contemporary Da Vinci. When reflecting on living a Christian life, he said: "It is necessary to have patience, trust in God, and repent one's errors, for these adversities come from nothing other than those, and especially from pride and ingratitude."
