Sir Niall Campbell Ferguson, a British-American historian, has authored 25 books and was a professor at both Harvard University and the London School of Economics. He has been considered one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world, having won an Emmy Award in 2009. He was knighted by King Charles III for his contributions to literature. Born to a physician father and a physics teacher mother, Ferguson was raised a skeptic and atheist. He attended The Glasgow Academy and later secured a scholarship to an Oxford college, graduating with first-class honors in history where he would spend much of his career. He has held positions at Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, the London School of Economics and Stanford. In addition to authoring numerous influential works, he produced the television documentary, "The Ascent of Money," which won an International Emmy Award for Best Documentary in 2009. During his historical research, he discovered that no successful society had been built upon atheism and without a religious foundation. This would eventually lead him to consider the importance of religion for ethical principles. As a result, Sir Niall Ferguson made his Christian Decision in 2023, when he stated: “I have embraced Christianity,” ...“We were all baptized, Ayaan and our two sons, together in September. It was the culmination of a quite protracted process. My journey was from atheism.... I lost my faith in atheism.” "When I read the Bible I don’t say: show me the miracle. My attitude is that this extraordinary document is describing the life of a unique individual whose power to transform the world has never been equaled. That’s good enough for me.”
