Patrick Lavon Mahomes II, an American professional football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. His father is a former Major League Baseball pitcher had a 11 year career with the Twins and N.Y. Mets. Upon graduation from high school, Mahomes was drafted by the Detroit Tiger in the 2014 MLB Draft, but he chose to play football and baseball for Texas Tech instead after which the Kansas City Chiefs selected him 2017. He has led the Chiefs to six consecutive AFC Championships and four Super Bowl appearances since becoming the team's starting quarterback in 2018. He is one of only five quarterbacks in NFL history to win three or more Super Bowls as a starter. Mahomes has led the Kansas City Chiefs to 6 consecutive AFC Championships and four Super Bowl appearances and he became the only quarterback in history to throw for more than 5,000 yards in a single season in both college and in the NFL. In the 2019 season, Mahomes led the Chiefs to Super Bowl LIV, their first Super Bowl appearance in 50 years, where they defeated the San Francisco 49ers Apparently Mahomes has interests and direction from higher places than his coach when he noted: "My Christian faith plays a role in everything that I do," … "I mean, I always ask God to lead me in the right direction and let me be who I am for His name."
