Pierce Brosnan, an Irish actor and film producer, is famous for playing the role of James Bond in several movies. In contrast, his early life was marked by numerous tragedies when his father left him as an infant and his mother was forced to move to London leaving him with grandparents. After their death, he lived with various relatives eventually ending up in a boarding house. At age 11, he was reunited with his mother and her new husband. At age 16, he left school and began training in commercial illustration attending the Drama Center London, later moving to Southern California and securing his role in the TV series Remington Steele. Brosnan's later roles as the notorious James Bond didn't always play out in his own personal life, where both his wife and adopted daughter died from ovarian cancer. How did his Christian faith play a role in these tragedies? "Prayer helped me with the loss of my wife to cancer."… It always helps to have a bit of prayer in your back pocket. At the end of the day, you have to have something, and for me, that is God, Jesus, my Catholic upbringing, my faith."
