Religiously, nobody really knows what Rembrandt believed, since like most of his contemporaries of the time, he left no writings about his faith. But, most likely he was a non-denominational Christian. He may have considered painting as a way of mimicking God and His creativity: "Painting is the grandchild of nature. It is related to God."
