Dr. Robert Millikan, an American experimental physicist, was honored with a Nobel Prize in 1923 for his work on the measurement of electric charge and the photoelectric effect, when electrons are emitted from a material when it is illuminated with light. He personally sees no conflict between his Christian faith and science: "I can assert most definitely that the denial of faith lacks any scientific basis. In my view, there will never be a true contradiction between faith and science." Regarding the Bible, Millikan noted: "I consider an intimate knowledge of the Bible an indispensable quality of a well educated man."
