Robert Boyle, a 17th century chemist, physicist and inventor, was a founding member of the Royalty Society for scientists established in 1660. He is widely regarded as the first modern chemist. Boyle was born into a relatively wealthy family and developed a keen interest in scientific research, establishing his own laboratory and conducting numerous experiments.
