Shawn Fain

Shawn Fain, a labor unionist, has served as president of the United Auto Workers (UAW) since March 2023. He is electrician by trade and has been a UAW member for 29 years. Fain noted how he has leverages his Christian faith in coping with the ups and downs of life when he said: “I’ve been on unemployment and been on government aid to get formula and diapers for my firstborn child. I mean, that’s when, to me, I leaned on my faith and leaned on God and turned to scripture for answers.” Fain is not afraid to publicly expose his Christian faith by quoting the Bible in speeches and using his family Bible to be sworn in at the UAW. “I chose to be sworn into this office on my grandmother’s Bible. I have it here with me today. . . . I’m proud to have inherited my grandma’s Bible and her faith.” Can a leader, sometimes referred to as "militant", be considered an authentic follower of Christ?
