Joseph, a Jewish carpenter who lived 2,000 years ago, was the husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus. While he is not often personally referenced in the New Testament, his extraordinary commitment and trust in God was exemplified by his humble execution of duties as husband, protector and provider for Jesus and his mother Mary. St. Joseph is also revered as the patron saint of fathers and workers by the Catholic Church. Apparently, Joseph's role to play in the Christian story was more like that of a backstage crew manager, preparing and supporting the Son of God and his Mother Mary, quietly working behind the scenes seeking minimal attention. Yet, how important was his work? Can you relate to Joseph?
