Mary Mother of jesus1
  • Profession: Mother of Jesus
  • Type: Saint
Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a first-century Jewish woman from the city of Nazareth now based in Israel. Christians believe that Mary was chosen by God to conceive Jesus via the intervention of the Holy Spirit, a concept referred to as a virgin birth. This was disclosed to Mary during a visitation by the Angel Gabriel. Her husband to be (Joseph), when he found out about her unwed pregnancy, decided to quietly put her away out of the public eye to avoid her embracement. However, thru a divine revelation, Joseph agreed to take on Mary as his wife and Jesus as his child. Arguably one of the most important Saints, Mary the mother of Jesus Christ, is believed by Christians to have been born without the stain of sin (original sin). She is referenced many times both in the Old and New Testament Bible as well as the Islamic Quran.
