Sting Ray Rob

Back to all People
Sting Ray Robb, a Indy race car driver, was born in Boise, Idaho. His Chevy-enthusiast parents named him after the iconic Corvette Stingray sports car. At age 5, he received his first "car" , a go-kart, kick starting his racing career. By the age of 8, Robb began competing nationally, amassing numerous titles as he rose quickly thru the ranks. At the young age of 19, Robb achieved a career milestone winning the Indy Pro 2000 Championship. Currently he is racing as No. 51 Dallara-Honda for Dale Coyne Racing. As his professional career advanced, Rob frequently reflects on the parallel growth in his Christian faith: “My faith and racing have grown together a lot,” he said on an episode of a Christian podcast. “It kind of seems that how I was challenged in the racing world, I was also challenged in my faith. I said a long time ago that I would not be a racer if it wasn’t for my faith. It’s my foundation that I lean on, and it’s the thing that I call to and find purpose....It has helped me get through some tough times because it’s a good reminder that whatever is happening, whatever the struggles are, it’s for a purpose, and we’re still in God’s control.” It will be interesting to monitor this young man's life and career as he pursues both his roles in racing and the Christian Story.
