Theodore Robert Bundy, an American serial killer, kidnapped, raped and murdered dozens of young women. After denying his crimes for years, Bundy eventually confessed to 30 murders. Born in a Vermont home for unwed mothers, his biological father remains unknown. For the first years of his life, Bundy lived with his grandparents, whom he was told were his parents, and was led to believe his mother was actually his older sister, but eventually discovered the truth. Despite often speaking warmly of his grandfather, he was a tyrannical bully who beat his wife and family pets. During Bundy's youth, he exhibited troubling behaviors including voyeurism, theft and bullying local children. While maintaining good grades in school, Bundy dropped out of college, but later found stable employment. Ted Bundy's five year murder spree spanned the states of Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Idaho and Florida ultimately leading to his apprehension, conviction and death sentence. In the years leading up to his execution, Bundy claimed to have experienced a Christian conversion, expressing remorse for his crimes and seeking spiritual guidance. Shortly before his execution, Bundy spoke with Christian psychologist Dr. James Dobson, where he attributed his violent behavior to the influence of pornography and discussing his repentance with mutual friend John Tanner, commented that "that you (Ted Bundy) have accepted the forgiveness of Jesus Christ and are a follower and a believer in Him." Although Bundy professed his Christian faith and remorse for his crimes in his final days, the sincerity of these claims remain a subject of debate. Theodore Robert Bundy's fate in life may have been determined by the state of Florida, but his eternal fate rests with a higher Authority.
