Back to all People
Dwayne Douglas Johnson, widely known as "The Rock", is a renowned professional wrestler, actor and businessman. He is regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all-time, and his films have collectively grossed over $12.5 billion worldwide. Born in Hayward California, Johnson's family has deep roots in professional wrestling, where, his father, Rocky Johnson, was a prominent wrestler. Dwayne initially rose to fame in the World Wrestling Federation (WWE), where his charisma and athleticism earned him the moniker "The Rock." Following his wrestling career, Johnson would transition to acting, becoming one of Hollywood's highest-grossing stars in blockbuster movies such as "Fast & Furious" and "Jumanji" francizes. Given his current success, it's difficult to imagine "The Rock" battling depression, but this is exactly what he underwent at age 22 after playing four seasons at the University of Miami, only, to be rejected by both the NFL and Canadian Football League. Without a future, Johnson found himself living with his parents and battling depression. Yet, he found solace in his Christian faith later reflecting: “I believe in God. I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe in the power of prayer. And I believe that when you have faith, it can help you through anything.”
