Sir William Mitchell Ramsay, a Scottish archaeologist and youngest son of a 3rd generation lawyer who tragically died when he was only 6 ears old, initially embarked on a mission to challenge the accuracy of New Testament Bible. Upon his first visit to Asia Minor, many of the cities mentioned in the New Testament Bible Book of Acts had no definite location, questioning whether these cities actually ever existed. Later in life he concluded: "Further study "¦ showed that the book could bear the most minute scrutiny as an authority for the facts of the Aegean world, and that it was written with such judgment, skill, art and perception of truth as to be a model of historical statement". After years of research he became a leading scholar in this area, determining that Luke's accounts in the Book of Acts were accurate in naming 32 countries, 54 cities and 9 islands. Ramsay later stated, "this author (Luke) should be placed along with the very greatest historians."
